A few blocks away, Gesu Church (118 NE 2nd St), the city's oldest Catholic parish, founded in 1896, and the Olympia Theater (174 E Flagler St), a 1926 atmospheric movie palace that once hosted Elvis and now sits closed awaiting restoration, round out a core with more layers of history than anywhere else in Miami.

Time it for sunset, when Brickell lights up across the water.
